fline is in private beta, and this page changes when fline does.

## What fline is
fline is hosting for apps you build with Claude Code on your own computer. It's where your app lives online, so other people can open it. Claude Code sets it up, and you do a few steps.

You connect Claude Code to fline, then ask it to put your project online. fline works out how to build and run it, and your app gets a link you can send. You can add a database of your own and put your app at a web address you own.

fline doesn't build your app for you, has no templates, and isn't part of a chat app. fline is independent and isn't made by Anthropic, the company that makes Claude Code.

## Who it's for
People who build apps with Claude Code on their own computer, including people who can't code. Their app works on their computer, and now they want their first users on it.

It isn't for you yet if your project isn't a folder on your computer, if your business can't afford to be offline or to lose data, if your app needs to run things on a schedule or needs more than the limits below, or if you need one account for a team.

## AI apps, and how well each is tested with fline
| AI app | How it connects | Tested with fline from start to finish? |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Code, in your computer's Terminal app | One line pasted into Terminal | Yes |
| The Code tab of the Claude desktop app | Not yet tested with fline | Not yet |
| Cursor | A few lines in a settings file | Not yet. Setup steps are on your dashboard |
| Codex | A few lines in a settings file, and one line in Terminal | Not yet. Setup steps are on your dashboard |
| VS Code | A few lines in a settings file | Not yet. Setup steps are on your dashboard |
| Grok | One line in Terminal | Not yet. Setup steps are on your dashboard |
| Antigravity | A few lines in a settings file | Not yet. Setup steps are on your dashboard |
| ChatGPT, Claude on the web, and the Chat tab of the Claude desktop app | They can't send fline a project folder | No. They can't put an app on fline today |
| App builders such as Lovable, Bolt, Replit and Base44 | They can't send fline a project | No. Sending a downloaded builder project with Claude Code hasn't been tested |

With each AI app you then approve fline in your browser. Other AI coding apps can try the "Something else" setup on your dashboard, which isn't tested either.

## What works today
- **Putting your project online by asking Claude Code.** Claude Code packs up your project folder and sends it to fline. fline works out how to build and run it, so you write no setup files, and you never rent, log in to or look after a server.
- **A link you can send.** Every app gets its own link with the padlock as soon as it's running. It's a long address made automatically, ending in apps.dev.fline.sh.
- **More than one part.** A project can have several parts, such as a website and a background helper. They share the project's limits.
- **A database of your own.** Claude Code can have fline create a database (Postgres 16) or a fast cache (Valkey 8, which works like Redis), and fline runs it. It belongs to your account, so more than one of your projects can use it. Claude Code takes care of connecting it to your app. If it needs you, it asks you to copy one line from your dashboard.
- **A database you already have.** You can connect a Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis or RabbitMQ service you already run instead. You type its address on a private fline page.
- **Pausing a database.** You can pause a database and resume it later. If you delete one, its data is kept for seven days.
- **Passwords and keys typed on a private page.** When your app needs a password or key, Claude Code gives you a link to a private fline page. The page works once, for 10 minutes, and only while you're signed in to your own fline account. Claude Code sees that you entered it, not what you typed. Once saved, nothing in fline shows it again, not to Claude Code and not on your dashboard. If you already pasted a key into the chat, Claude Code can save it on fline too, and it can't read it back. It should then suggest you replace it with a new key on the private page.
- **Keys kept out of what your app prints.** If your app prints a saved password or key word for word, fline blanks it out of what you and Claude Code see. A changed or partial value isn't caught.
- **Your own web address.** A www or app address, like www.yourbakery.com, works with any domain company, and fline sets up the padlock and renews it. You add one record at the company you bought the address from. Your dashboard shows which one and keeps checking for 48 hours, and Claude Code can attach and check the address for you.
- **Updates.** Ask Claude Code to update your app. The current version keeps running while the new one is prepared.
- **Putting an earlier version back.** Ask Claude Code. fline runs exactly what ran then, as a new version, and keeps your current passwords and keys. It doesn't change what's in your database, and it's refused if the old version no longer passes fline's checks.
- **Seeing what went wrong.** If a launch or an update fails, your dashboard says so, and one button copies the problem for Claude Code. Claude Code can read what happened and try a fix. A fix isn't guaranteed.
- **What your app printed.** Your dashboard can search the last 7 days of it. Claude Code gets only the most recent lines.
- **What your app uses.** See its memory, processing, network and disk use for up to 30 days. It's measured, not charged.
- **Emails about your builds.** fline emails you when a build starts, when your app goes live, and if it can't get your app built and started.
- **The same build plan each time.** Ask Claude Code to save fline's build plan, a file called fline.json, in your project, and later updates follow the same plan.
- **Disconnecting.** You can disconnect Claude Code from your dashboard at any time. It takes effect within 30 seconds, and your app keeps running.

## What doesn't work yet
- Putting an app online from ChatGPT, the Claude website, the Chat tab of the Claude desktop app, or an app builder. fline needs a project folder on your computer, sent by an AI coding app.
- Sending fline a GitHub link, or putting your app online when you push to GitHub.
- Uploading a project from your dashboard.
- Connecting without Terminal or a settings file.
- Running anything on a schedule. Nothing runs on a timer.
- Pausing or stopping a project. A project can only be deleted.
- Choosing a bigger size for a project or a database.
- Backups you can count on, a way to restore, or a button to download your database.
- A second machine. If the machine your app runs on stops, your app is offline until it's back.
- An uptime promise or a status page.
- An email when a running app crashes or stops answering.
- Teams. A fline account is one person.
- A short address made from your app's name.
- An address without www at domain companies other than Cloudflare. Use a www address there.
- A button on your dashboard to put an earlier version back. Ask Claude Code instead.
- Waiting in line when fline is full. If there's no room, a new project is turned away at the end, after it's been prepared, and your dashboard shows a "failed at submit" reason.

## Limits
- Each project gets 1 processor core, about 1 GB of memory and 8 GB of storage, shared by all its parts. It can't be changed yet.
- Each database comes in one small size: 1 GB of memory and room for about 8 GB of data.
- Your project can be up to 100 MB once Claude Code packs it up, not counting the add-ons your app downloads when it's built.
- A build is stopped if it runs longer than 15 minutes.
- The private page for keys works once, for 10 minutes.
- Your dashboard keeps 7 days of what your app printed and 30 days of what it used.
- fline keeps checking a new web address for 48 hours.
- One account is one person.
- During the private beta fline has room for a small number of projects across everyone, so we open accounts by hand as room opens.

## Privacy and your code
- Your app's link is public. Anyone who has it can open your app. If your app holds private information, give it a sign-in, and ask Claude Code to check that each person can see only their own data. fline doesn't check your app's own code.
- fline keeps a copy of your project so it can build and run it. The original stays in your folder.
- To work out how to build and run your app, fline sends parts of your code to an AI model made by OpenAI (GPT-5). The passwords and keys you save on fline never go to that model, and never go into the build. A key written into your project's own files could, so keep keys on fline's private page. fline keeps files named like key files, such as .env files, and files that contain a few common kinds of key away from that model, but it can't catch every key. Those files still go into your app's build, so ask Claude Code to leave them out of what it sends.
- Your database is on the internet, so your app can reach it. It takes only encrypted connections with its password, and you can limit it to addresses you list.
- Your app runs on one machine that we rent and run ourselves, at Contabo. We don't promise which country it's in. Each app runs in its own locked-down space, separate from other people's apps on the same machine. The separation is the standard kind, with nothing heavier added.
- Once you approve it, Claude Code can put your app online and update it, create a database, attach your web address, see what went wrong and put an earlier version back. It can also delete a project or a database. You can disconnect it from your dashboard at any time.
- This website has no tracking script and sets no cookie. What the waitlist form stores is set out on the [privacy page](https://dev.fline.sh/privacy).

## Cost
Nothing during the private beta. There's no price and no billing yet, and we don't ask for a card. Our terms say that if a price ever comes, it applies only from then on, so your time in the beta won't be charged later. What your app uses is measured and shown to you, and nothing charges for it. Claude Code's own plan is separate: when Claude Code puts your app online or fixes something, that uses your plan as usual.

## Status
- Private beta. We open accounts by hand, a few at a time, and sign-up is with an email address and a password. We email you when your account opens.
- Everything runs on one rented machine, with no spare. There's no uptime promise and no status page.
