What to say to Claude Code to put your app online
Tell Claude Code what you want in plain words, and name the host every time, as in "Put this project online with fline." Below are prompts to copy for each step after that, from keys and a database to updates and fixes.
Free during the private beta. No card. We open accounts by hand, a few at a time.

To get Claude Code to put your app online, tell it what you want in plain words and name the host in the sentence. You don't need special wording or any coding, and it helps to ask for one step at a time. I build fline, hosting for apps people make with Claude Code on their own computer, so these prompts are written for fline, and each one that names fline asks for something Claude Code can do on fline today. Copy them as they are, and change the words in brackets.
How do I ask Claude Code to put my app online?
Open Claude Code in your project folder and ask in one sentence that names fline. This works the same in your computer's Terminal app and in the Code tab of the Claude desktop app, which includes Claude Code and is tested with fline too.
Before the first launch, it helps to know what your app will ask for:
Before we put this online with fline, tell me in plain words what it needs: passwords or keys, a database, anything else. Then ask:
Put this project online with fline.Claude Code packs up a copy of your project folder and sends it to fline, and it may ask your permission first, which is expected. fline works out how to build and run your app, and when it's ready, Claude Code gives you the link, which your fline dashboard shows too. If Claude Code stops before the end:
Keep going until my project is live on fline. How to get your Claude Code app online walks through the first launch, including connecting Claude Code to fline, and why your app only works on your computer explains what changes once it's online.
Why name fline in every prompt?
Name fline so Claude Code knows which host you mean. Left to choose, it may suggest a different one. As a reminder in every session, ask Claude Code to add a note to CLAUDE.md, a notes file in your project folder that Claude Code reads at the start of every session:
Add this to CLAUDE.md in this project:
When I ask to put this app online, or to change it once it's online, use fline.
Never ask me to paste a password or key into the chat. Give me the link to fline's private page instead.
Ask me before you delete a project or a database on fline.Anthropic's guide to CLAUDE.md says Claude Code treats these notes as context rather than rules it must follow, so keep naming fline in your prompts too.
What do I say when my app needs a password or key?
Ask Claude Code for fline's private page instead of pasting the key into the chat:
My app needs a key for [SERVICE]. Give me fline's private page instead of asking me to paste it here. You type the key on that page in your browser, and Claude Code sees that you did it, not what you typed. The page works once, for 10 minutes, and only while you're signed in to your own fline account, so ask for a new link if it has stopped working. If your app is already online when you add or replace a key, it needs a restart to use it:
Restart my app on fline so it uses the key I just entered. If you already pasted a key into the chat, Claude Code can save it on fline, but it has seen the key, so the careful step is a new key from the service that issued it, typed on the private page. Is it safe to give Claude Code your API keys? explains where keys belong, and passwords and keys your app uses has every step.
What do I say when my app needs a database?
Ask Claude Code whether your app needs one, and if it does, to have fline create it:
Does this app need a database? If it does, have fline create one, and tell me any step I need to do.fline can create the database your app needs, and runs it: Postgres, or a fast cache with Valkey, which works like Redis. If connecting it to your app needs you, Claude Code asks you to copy one line from your fline dashboard and tells you where it goes. There's no backup promise and no download button yet, so keep your own copy of anything you can't lose.
Already have a database (Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis or RabbitMQ) somewhere else? Your app can use that one instead, and you type its address on fline's private page:
My app should use the database I already have, not a new one. Set that up on fline and give me the private page for its address.Do I need a database for my app? helps you decide, and a database of your own covers the rest.
How do I ask Claude Code for my own web address?
Ask Claude Code to attach the address and tell you which record to add. A www address, like www.yourbakery.com, works with any domain company.
Attach www.[YOURNAME].com to this project on fline and tell me which record to add, and where.Claude Code can't add the record for you: you add it at the company where you bought the address, and your fline dashboard shows exactly which one. fline keeps checking for 48 hours, and once it finds the record, it sets up the padlock and renews it. To have it check sooner:
Check whether www.[YOURNAME].com is working on fline yet. If it isn't, tell me what the record should be and what fline found instead. An address without www, like yourbakery.com, works today only if your domain is with Cloudflare. Use a web address you own has every step.
How do I ask Claude Code to update my app?
Make the change with Claude Code on your computer, check that it works there, then ask Claude Code to send the new version to fline:
Update my app on fline with the changes I just made. The current version keeps running while the new one is prepared. To have later updates follow the same build plan, ask once:
Save fline's build plan in this project, so later updates follow the same plan.Claude Code saves the plan as a file called fline.json in your project folder. Change your app after it is online explains what stays the same from one version to the next.
What do I say when something goes wrong?
Ask Claude Code to look, and ask while the problem is happening. If a launch or an update fails, your fline dashboard says so, and one button copies the problem for Claude Code. Paste it in with this:
My last launch or update on fline failed. Here's what the dashboard copied: [PASTE]. What went wrong? Try a fix.If your app is online but a page shows an error:
My app on fline shows an error when I [WHAT YOU DID]. Look at what went wrong on fline and try a fix.Claude Code can read what happened on fline and the most recent lines your app printed, while your fline dashboard can search the last 7 days of them. Whether Claude Code finds the fix depends on Claude Code, so I can't promise it will. When something goes wrong covers what you might see.
How do I ask Claude Code to put an earlier version back?
Ask Claude Code to show you the versions fline has kept and put back the one you choose. There's no button for this on your fline dashboard yet.
Show me the earlier versions of my app on fline, with when each was made, and put back the one from before the last update.fline runs exactly what ran then, as a new version, so the version number goes up, not down. It keeps your current passwords and keys and doesn't change what's in your database, and if an old version no longer passes fline's checks, fline refuses and says why. Your project folder still has the newer code, so ask Claude Code to fix the problem there before your next update.
What should I ask before I send people the link?
Ask Claude Code to check your app's own code, because anyone who has your link can open your app, and fline doesn't check that code for you. Before people use your app: a checklist goes further.
Check that each person who signs in can see only their own data.Make sure no secret key ends up in the code that runs in the visitor's browser. Is there a Claude Code skill for putting apps online?
Yes. fline publishes its own skills for Claude Code, and you don't need them to use fline. A skill is a short set of instructions your AI app keeps on hand and reads by itself when a task needs it. When Claude Code connects, fline tells it the basics, and the skills add fline's full steps for each job: getting your project ready for its first time online, putting it online and updating it, a database, a web address you own, finding out what went wrong, and checking your app before you send its link to anyone. For Claude Code, adding the skills also connects fline, and you approve it in your browser. Add fline's skills to your AI app has the steps.
Where fline fits
fline is hosting for apps you build with Claude Code on your own computer: the step after it works. Claude Code in Terminal and the Code tab of the Claude desktop app are tested with fline from start to finish. So is Codex, which takes the same prompts for each step on fline, and how to put your Codex app online covers connecting it.
Some things have no prompt yet. Nothing runs on a schedule, and a project can't be paused or stopped, only deleted. fline doesn't email you when a running app crashes. During the private beta every app runs on one rented machine with no spare, with no uptime promise and no backups you can count on, so fline suits trying your app with your first users. What fline does today has the full list, with a date on it.
If you made your app in a chat rather than with Claude Code, fline can't take it yet, and can Claude host my website? covers your options. fline is free during the private beta, with no card, and we open accounts by hand, a few at a time. Claude Code's own plan is separate: its work on your app uses your plan as usual.

Questions people ask
What do I say to Claude Code to put my app online?
Open Claude Code in your project folder and tell it: "Put this project online with fline." Name the host in the sentence, or Claude Code may pick a different one. Claude Code packs up a copy of your folder and sends it, and fline works out how to build and run your app. Before your first launch, once your fline account is open, you connect Claude Code by pasting one line from your fline dashboard into your computer's Terminal app and approving fline in your browser.
Why should I name the host when I ask Claude Code?
Claude Code needs to know where your app should go, and left to choose, it may suggest a different host. Naming fline in each request keeps every step in the same place. You can also ask Claude Code to add a note to CLAUDE.md, the file of project notes it reads at the start of every session, saying to use fline. Claude Code treats that file as context rather than strict rules, so keep naming fline in your prompts too.
What do I say to Claude Code when my app breaks?
Tell it what you did and what you saw, and ask it to look at what went wrong on fline and try a fix. If a launch or an update failed, your fline dashboard says so, and one button copies the problem for you to paste into Claude Code. Ask while the problem is happening, because Claude Code reads only the most recent lines your app printed. Whether it finds the fix depends on Claude Code, so fline can't promise it will.
How do I ask Claude Code to put an earlier version back?
Ask it to show you the earlier versions of your app on fline and put back the one you choose. fline runs exactly what ran then, as a new version, and keeps your current passwords and keys. It doesn't change what's in your database. There's no button for it on your fline dashboard yet, so you ask Claude Code.
Should I paste my API keys into Claude Code?
No. Ask Claude Code for fline's private page instead, and type the key there in your browser. Claude Code sees that you entered it, not what you typed, and nothing in fline shows a saved key again. If you already pasted a key into the chat, get a new key from the service that issued it and type the new one on the private page.
Can Claude Code pause my app or run it on a schedule on fline?
Not yet. On fline nothing runs on a timer, and a project can't be paused or stopped, only deleted. Claude Code can delete a project or a database, so ask it to check with you before it deletes anything.
